How To Get the Best Out of a Wedding Show

Using our wedding show experience, we thought we’d share some expert advice on how to get the best out of your visit.

Set a Goal

Decide early on what you’d like to achieve by attending your chosen wedding show. Whether it's booking a specific supplier, gathering inspiration for your wedding theme, or sampling different catering options, having clear goals in mind will keep you focused amidst the whirlwind of activities.

Make a checklist of what you want to accomplish during your visit and check off items as you go along. It may well be that you don’t get everything checked off during one show, but by having a solid list, you’ll know where to pick things up from next time.

Create a Wedding Email Address

For us, an important way of communicating with you is via social media, but also email. As it allows for a more direct form of communication. During your visits to wedding shows you should expect numerous requests for your email, and in the following days, lots of messages to appear in your inbox. These newsletters, discounts and personal notifications are genuinely a really useful way for you to get the most of your suppliers. And you shouldn’t turn down the option of signing up to a mailing list. But, when you start to get multiple wedding related messages a day, it can become overwhelming, especially if you’re the only one receiving them.

Keep your personal inbox clutter-free and create a separate email address specifically for wedding-related correspondence. This way, you can easily manage and filter through the influx of emails without mixing them up with your personal or work emails.

Be Prompt

The early bird catches the worm! And that is certainly the case when it comes to visiting wedding shows. Early birds typically have the advantage of engaging with suppliers more thoroughly without feeling rushed. While also having extra time to explore a venue and familiarize yourself with the layout before things get too crowded.

Dress to Impress & Feel Comfortable

There’s typically a lot of walking and standing involved in wedding shows, so it's important to dress comfortably. Opt for casual attire and wear comfortable shoes that you can walk in for extended periods.

Be Prepared

Pack a bag with wedding show essentials such as a notebook and pen for jotting down notes, a water bottle to stay hydrated, and snacks to keep your energy levels up.

You could also consider bringing along a folder to store business cards, brochures, and any other materials you collect from wedding suppliers. This will help you stay organized and prevent loose papers from getting in the way.

Ask Plenty of Questions

Don't hesitate to ask suppliers questions about their services, pricing, availability, and any other details you're curious about. And take notes during your conversations to help you remember important information later on.

Having an actual conversation with a supplier will undoubtably provide invaluable insights and help you gauge whether they're the right fit for your wedding.

Keep an Open-Mind

It's really great to have a clear vision for your wedding, as that will help suppliers create the perfect day for you. But you should also be open-minded and flexible when exploring different ideas at a wedding show. You may discover options or styles you hadn't considered before, which could ultimately enhance your wedding planning experience.

Be open and honest with your partner, and be willing to compromise or adapt as needed.

We hope you found this wedding show advice useful, and have maybe inspired you to pay us a visit next month! It would be a pleasure to welcome you to our open day on Sunday the 12th of May at The Kent Wedding Centre.
