5 Tips to Make Your Bridal Appointment Successful
It can feel like a big undertaking to find the dress that fits you and your style, but you’ll achieve it with our simple tips.
You have booked your Kent Wedding Centre Appointment, how exciting, we can’t wait to welcome you though our doors, and help you find your dream dress! As your bridal appointment draws closer you might have a few questions about what to expect, so we have prepared 5 tips to help you prepare for your perfect bridal appointment.
You might never have stepped foot inside a bridal boutique before, you may have even heard some horror stories from your friends about what happens inside a bridal boutique. But don’t panic, we have put together five of our top tips to help you prepare for your bridal appointment with us. We want to ensure you get the most out of your time in the boutique, and we want to help you find your perfect wedding dress!
1. Be open and honest
It’s our job to get to know you during your bridal appointment, and to learn as much as possible about your plans for your wedding day. The more you can tell us, the better placed we are to help guide you to your perfect wedding dress.
We start your bridal appointment with a consultation, this is your chance to tell us all about your big day! Think about what you would like us to know about your day, this could include your venue, your flowers, your colour schemes, and any other details you are thinking of having on your big day.
Please don’t worry if you don’t have everything nailed down by this point, our expert stylists will be able to recommend dresses based on any wedding day details you give us.
We also need to know any dress requirements. Do you want a long sleeved wedding dress, a backless wedding dress, or do you have no clue yet about what you want? This is all good information for us, and we will use it to help guide you to that perfect dress.
2. Pick the right people for you
Some people want a quiet bridal appointment all to themselves. Others have a handful of trusted opinions. There’s no one right answer here, but make sure you have whomever you need to enjoy yourself, make memories, and get all the advice you want (and not a bit more).
We do recommend not inviting too many people, and leaving children with a loved one, if possible. It’s a fun appointment, but a wedding dress boutique just isn’t well suited for little ones! And your mind should be clear.
At present, due to Covid-19 we have had to limit the amount of guests each bride can bring along to their bridal appointment so think about who your two special guests should be.
3. Grab the right undergarments and shoes
There’s no right answer here, although nude coloured underwear is always a good place to start! If you’re a heel wearer, bring heels that are the height of the ones you expect to wear on the big day. If you have your heart set on flats, bring those.
If you know you’ll wear shapewear, bring it! You want to get the best (and most accurate) feeling for each wedding dress, and know that you’ll be comfortable through your appointment and through the whole wedding day.
4. Have a budget in mind
We've all seen it - bride walks into a luxury wedding shop with a modest budget, falls in love with a gown twice that, and leaves empty-handed and miserable. Or worse - buys the dress and has to sell her car to pay the difference. Don't be that bride! Trust us when we say, there is the perfect dress for you within your budget at The Kent Wedding Centre.
And if you go over your budget, make sure that you are 100% okay with it. You should never feel any pressure from your boutique.
5. Have an open mind when trying on dresses
If it's your first appointment, or even if it is your 5th appointment, it's important to keep an open mind with styles and cuts. Think you don't want a ballgown? Try one on anyway!
Firstly, because when will you ever get to put a ballgown on again... And secondly because you can't officially rule anything out unless you are certain. Who knows, you may like how you look in something you weren't expecting.
Your bridal consultants will know all the dresses they have in stock, and they are experts in dress selection, so trust in them if they pull something out to try on that doesn't look right at first glance. Because at the end of the day, finding a dress is fun! So have some fun while learning what dresses make you feel the best.
