2022 Wedding Trends that will Inspire Your Planning

Discover the biggest 2022 wedding trends and how to include them in your big day

Over the last two years, weddings as we once knew them — the guest lists, the dance floors, the drama, all seemed a long way away. And what we had were postponements and cancellations galore… or couples choosing to host their ceremonies from a distance online, or with a handful of loved ones in attendance. Yet now, as restrictions have been lifted, it’s impossible not to sense a difference in the air for the weddings to come, as well as those planned, lost and put back on the calendar. What will the wedding trends of 2022 look like? And how, if at all, will the events of the pandemic impact them?

2022 Wedding Trends that Will Be Big

Flavour with Meaning Wedding Cakes

To add a truly personal touch to the sugary centrepiece, many couples are selecting wedding cake flavours that remind them of a special memory. Whether that’s their first date, flavours from their childhood, or a connection to a favourite destination, these types of bakes allow newly-weds to share special memories with their guests.

A Smaller Wedding

This is one of the big trends for 2022, and something we’re all for. During our prolonged isolation, we have all learned much about ourselves, and those we are closest to. And what we have discovered is that our loved ones are all that matter. So let’s celebrate this, and just celebrate with them! \

While we’re free to invite much more than a handful of guests now, it’s still nice to just come together, and have a close, small gathering. We think smaller, more intimate weddings are here to stay!

Plus, with less of a guest list, you can provide a much more luxurious experience for your chosen few. Allowing you to not just be more lavish, but also spend time with your nearest and dearest. How many times have you been to a wedding and not said more than two or three words to the happy couple? Make time for a shared experience on your big day.

The Guest Experience

We were starved of live entertainment in 2020 and 2021. Those things that make us dance, cry or feel something in the real world. And this craving for the live, immersive experience is certainly something that will factor into the trends of the 2022 wedding season. For instance, we’ll see alternatives to the average wedding reception performers. Think magicians and performers. Forget wedding DJ, think live band and amazing singers! Maybe stand-up comedians could entertain your guests, while caricaturists draw their picture! The possibilities are endless, and we’ve got so many creative options available to inspire you right here at the centre!

Weekday Weddings

The wedding industry is facing a massive backlog of weddings created by Covid-related postponements, which has created one of the emerging wedding trends of 2022 that we simply can't ignore! While weekday weddings require a little more effort from your guests in getting time off work, but as a couple, you’ll receive cheaper rates and better availability in terms of venues and suppliers. It's true that having your wedding on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday can be less convenient for your guests, but this becomes less of a consideration if you've got a small guest list (see above)!

Bouquet Preservation

After everything that went into creating your bridal bouquet, it's no surprise that many brides want to preserve it! Well, bouquet preservation, a long-forgotten tradition, is about to become one of the wedding trends of 2022. From pressing flowers, preserving in epoxy resin or dipping in wax, to custom bridal bouquet paper flowers and paintings, brides are looking to artists for modern ways to preserve and present their wedding flowers.
